Activa Medical's CPAP Exchange - How does it work?

Activa Medical’s Used CPAP Exchange Is Simple!  www.cpapexchange.org

For all those who are in the market for a new CPAP, VPAP, Bi-Level, or APAP machine, simply send us your old CPAP machine and we’ll give you up to $200 of store credit to apply toward your new CPAP machine that you purchase from Activa Medical.

Activa Medical donates the used machines to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF.org), who then gives them free of charge to the children in need of respiratory / CPAP therapy, but cannot afford it.

The amount of store credit is dependent on the condition of the used CPAP / BiPAP / AutoPAP machine, the cleanliness, and vintage / model / age.  For a working CPAP machine the minimum credit is $100 up to $200 for a newer model BiPAP or VPAP in good condition.  Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. FAQ’s About Activa Medical’s CPAP Exchange

Who pays for shipping on the used CPAP machines?

You do.  But the store credit will more than offset that cost, which can then be applied to your new CPAP machine.  We pay for the shipping on the new CPAP machine to you.

Do you also donate the mask and related accessories?

No.  Since the masks need to be replaced every few months and are sized and fitted to each patient, they are not part of the CPAP Exchange program.

Will you accept any brand or age of CPAP machine?

Yes.  As long as it is in working condition and can be used without tuning or fixing, we will take it and provide the store credit to you.

Do I Buy The New Machine First or Send In The Old CPAP First?

Either is fine.  The easiest method is to purchase your new CPAP machine and then send in your old CPAP machine for the credit.  Once we receive it, we'll apply the credit to your account.  If you have not yet purchased your new CPAP machine then you will receive a discount code via email to use when you go through the checkout process.  The benefit to purchasing your new CPAP machine first is that you don't have to go any nights without CPAP therapy.

Can I use the store credit to purchase something other than a CPAP / BiPAP / AutoPAP / VPAP machine?

Yes.  As long as it’s used for something on the Activa Medical site you can apply the credit.  If it is used for a new CPAP machine, you can use the credit all at once.  If it is used for anything else, it must be used on several purchases.  Please contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 866-809-9357 if you have further questions about using your CPAP Exchange program credits.

What is the average store credit for the used CPAP machines?

It depends on the CPAP condition, model, vintage, brand, etc, but typically we're giving $140 - $160 store credit toward your new CPAP machine for the majority of customers.

Who is Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International?

Activa Medical has partnered with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF), www.jdrf.org to create a CPAP Exchange to provide free CPAP machines to diabetic children with sleep apnea, www.cpapexchange.org .   JDRF is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes (T1D). It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide.

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. T1D is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal. Until a cure is found, people with T1D have to test their blood sugar and give themselves insulin injections multiple times or use a pump--each day, every day of their lives. And even with that intensive care, insulin is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its potential complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.  The incidence of sleep related breathing disorders in children with diabetes is very high and until recently has gone largely undiagnosed.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with T1D, JDRF has awarded more than $1.5 billion to diabetes research, including $107 million last year. More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
